Will of the Letter
Adeeb Kamal Ad-Deen
When the letter sits opposite you,
Do not speak before he starts speaking.
Listen to him when he speaks,
Weep when he moans,
Kiss his bright forehead
When he kisses your forehead
That is covered with dust.
When he sings
You must stand up to dance.
So the letter will be your flute
And your white bird
soaring in the blue sky.
When the letter burns with death and love
And the letter frequently burns with death and
love-
Put your finger to your lips
As a sign of silence,
And start writing the poem above the water.
